DescriptionThe rearscreen wiper is operated by turningthe ring nut on the end of the lever located on the right of thesteering wheel.By pushing the lever gently towards thesteering wheel the rearscreen washer function is activated; thesame pump is used as for the windscreen washer (two-way), but itrotates in the opposite direction and sends the detergent fluid tothe rear.If the lever is kept pressed, the rearscreenwiper comes on and operates for a few moments after the lever isreleased. When the lever is released, the windscreen wipers willcontinue to operate for several strokes. The rearscreen wash/wipe can only be operatedwith the ignition switched ON.The windscreen wash/wipe circuit is protectedby a specific fuse and is operated by the ignition-operated relaylocated in the junction unit.
Functional description The stalk unit H5 is supplied atpin 3 of connector D from the ignition-operated line (INT/A) ofthe relay R1 protected by the fuse F14 : both arecontained in the junction unit B1 . The rear wiper is activated by stalk switch H5 viaa signal sent by pin 1 of connector D to rear wiper motor N16 . When operated, the windscreen washer switchon the steering column switch unit H5 sends two signals frompin 8 and pin 9 of connector A, which reach the pump for operatingthe windscreen washer N22 directly. The motor is operatedupon a command from stalk switch H5 in the opposite mannerto that described for the washer function (when the motor is operatedin reverse, it sends fluid to the back instead of to the front). One of the two signals (pin 2 of connectorD of H5 ) is sent to electronic device inside rear wiper motor N16 that controls the operation of the rear wiper in conjunctionwith the rear washer. The rear wiper motor N16 is thenconnected to earth. It consists of the actual geared motor, theend of travel contacts and the electronic adjustment and controldevice.
