DescriptionWhen the boot is opened the luggage compartment light is turned on which goes out when the boot is closed. The light can be left on by operating the switch on the actual light.A light inside the glove compartment is turned on when the compartment is opened, and goes off when the compartment is closed. The lights under each of the two sun visors are operated using the switch on them. The Body Computer continuously acquires the 'battery voltage' signal and compares it with a limit: if the battery voltage level goes below this limit, it intervenes through the CAN sending a signal to disable a series of loads: these include the glove compartment light, the luggage compartment light and the sun visor lights; the function is activated with the ignition key in the OFF position.
Functional description According to the battery voltage control logic described previously, the Body Computer M1 supplies the luggage compartment light G40 from pin 33 of connector E and also the sun visor lights - driver's side G31 and passenger side G32 ;the glove compartment light G30 is supplied in the same way from pin 16 of connector C. The boot lid opening switch I11 sends an earth signal with the boot open and lights up the courtesy light G40 . The glove compartment light G30 is lit up with an earth signal from the glove compartment switch I15 . The 'low battery voltage' signal which switches off the courtesy lights if they are on, reaches the Body Computer M1 via the CAN line 3023163SeeE1050CAN CONNECTION LINES

Follow these precautions.769On batteries with an opticam hydrometer, electrolyte level and battery charge status can be monitored qualitativelyby examining the indicator colour: a light, bright colour indicates low electrolytelevel: top up with distilled water;a dark colour without a green area in thecentre indicates that the electrolyte level is correct but chargeis low: recharge the battery; a dark colour with a green area in themiddle indicates that both electrolyte level and charge status arecorrect: no action is necessary. For further details, see DESCRIPTION ANDOPERATION - 5580.768Proceed as follows.Check the battery voltage without loadusing the test device recommended by the Service outlets (e.g. 'MICRO360'). Depending on the voltage values measured, which define the state of charge of the battery, proceed as follows:If the voltage without load is less than12.10 V, replace the battery (see op.). 5530B10).If the voltage without load is over 12.10V but less than 12.50 V, recharge the battery (see op. 5530B14).If the voltage without load is over 12.50V, the battery is efficient. If necessary, top up the electrolyte asfollows.Carefully remove the cap strip.Top up with distilled and deionized water, taking care not to allow electrolyte to splash out.768
