DescriptionThe direction indicators and hazard warning lights delimit theouter dimensions of the car.The left and right direction indicatorsare operated by raising or lowering the appropriate lever on thestalk unit. The hazard warning lights (right and leftdirection indicators operated simultaneously) are turned on by thepressing the red button in the centre of the dashboard. The direction indicators work with the ignitionon, while for safety reasons, the hazard warning lights can be turnedon at any time, as they are supplied directly from the battery. The circuit for the direction indicatorsand hazard warning lights is protected by a single fuse. Two warning lights in the panel (rev countermodule), also intermittent, signal that the left and right directionindicators are turned on.The red hazard warning light button containstwo leds: the first green one is ignition-operated and lights upthe specific symbol; The second red light comes on intermittentlywhen the hazard warning lights are operated. The hazard warning lights are also operatedby the alarm system, which is connected directly to the power supplyto the lights.
Functional description The circuit is controlled by the hazard warning lights switch H20 . The intermittent device is locatedon the steering column switch unit H5. It is connected to earthat pin 7 of connector A and receives a supply signal at pin 7 ofconnector D through switch H20:when the hazard lights are not off, the supply is controlledby the ignition (INT/A) through the line for fuse B10 upto 2/99 or from fuse F6 of the additional fuse box B98B from2/99when the hazard lights are on, the supply is direct fromthe battery through fuse F9 of the junction unit B1 andmaxifuse J/B1 of B5 up to 2/99 or of B99 from2/99. The intermittent device produces a signalwhich supplies the switch for the direction indicators on the steeringcolumn switch H5 and the switch H20 . The operation, in one direction or another,of the steering column switch lever H5 supplies the rightdirection indicators ( F11 , F21 , F31 ) or theleft ones ( F10 , F20 , F30 ). At the same time the warning light, locatedin the rev counter module E15 , comes on. Pressing the switch H20 closes threecontacts which simultaneously supply all the lights (right branchand left branch) close and the red LED in the actual switch whichlights up the symbol in flashing mode. In switch H20 there is also a greenLED which comes on when the ignition is switched on (INT/A). All the hazard warning lights are also operatedby the alarm system control unit M30 (pins 1 and 2 of connectorB), which is connected directly to the light power supply ( 3234737SeeE7015ALARM ).

Follow these precautions.769On batteries with an opticam hydrometer, electrolyte level and battery charge status can be monitored qualitativelyby examining the indicator colour:a light, bright colour indicates low electrolytelevel: top up with distilled water;a dark colour without a green area in thecentre indicates that the electrolyte level is correct but chargeis low: recharge the battery;a dark colour with a green area in themiddle indicates that both electrolyte level and charge status arecorrect: no action is necessary. For more details 3238420See subassembly5530 CURRENT GENERATOR . 768Proceed as follows.Check the battery voltage without loadusing the test device recommended by the Service outlets (e.g. 'MICRO360').Depending on the voltage values measured, which define the state of charge of the battery, proceed as follows: If the voltage without load is less than12.10 V, replace the battery ( 32384295530B10battery - r+r ). If the voltage without load is over 12.10V but less than 12.50 V, recharge the battery ( 32384305530B14battery - recharge ). If the voltage without load is over 12.50V, the battery is efficient. If necessary, top up the electrolyte asfollows.Carefully remove the cap strip.Top up with distilled and deionized water, taking care not to allow electrolyte to splash out.768
