DescriptionLuggage compartment lighting is controlled by a timer. When the boot is opened, a light is turned on for a timed interval of several minutes (this function ensures that the battery does not go flat if the car is left with the boot open).Timer operation is suspended when the boot is closed.A light inside the glove compartment is turned on when the compartment is opened, and goes off when the compartment is closed. The light under the sunblind is turned on when a switch on the blind is turned on.The boot light and sunblind lights are protected by the same fuse.Numerous other interior instrument and control lights are present. These are turned on when the side lights are turned on. The lines are described and illustrated in the relevant component wiring diagrams.
Functional description The boot light G40 is controlled by the timer J51 . The time is supplied directly from the battery to pin 85 through the line of the maxifuse CENTR of B5 and the fuse F4 of the junction unit B1 . The boot open switch I11 sends an earth signal, when the boot is open, to pin 86 of J51 . The boot open signal is also sent to the instrument - pin 13 of connector B of E50 - to switch on the 'boot open' LED and car symbol, while pin 15 of connector A of E50 supplies the ignition-operated supply (INT/A) to the panel through fuse F1 of junction unit B1 . The glove compartment light G30 is supplied directly from the battery via the line of the maxifuse CENTR of B5 and fuse F4 of the junction unit B1 : it is activated by an earth signal from the glove compartment switch I15 . The two lights on the sunshades G31 and G32 are also supplied directly from the battery via the line of the maxifuse CENTR of B5 and fuse F4 of the junction unit B1 : they are operated by the switch inside the light.
