DescriptionThe vehicle has a reversing light located in the centre of the right rear light cluster (on the boot). It is operated each time reverse gear is engaged through the special switch on the outside of the gearbox casing. The reversing light circuit is supplied with the ignition key in the ON position (INT) and is protected by a special fuse in the underdashboard control unit. The signal that the reversing light has been switched on is managed by the Body Computer which forwards this information to the steering column switch unit for the automatic operation of the rearscreen wiper 3023281SeeE3021REAR WINDOW WASH/WIPE ] and, via the CAN, to the radio-telephone-navigator connector See E4090 NAVIGATOR ].
Functional description The supply for the reversing lights switch I20 is controlled by the ignition (INT) from the line for fuse F35 of the underdashboard control unit B2 . When reverse gear is engaged, the switch closes and send the supply to the reversing light in the right centre rear light cluster F36 , directly via the control unit B2 - pin 8 connector D. The reversing light activation signal is sent to the Body Computer M1 - pin 3 of connector F - and from there to the steering column switch unit H5 ; it is also sent, via the CAN line, to the navigator connector See E4090 NAVIGATOR ].

Follow these precautions.769On batteries with an opticam hydrometer, electrolyte level and battery charge status can be monitored qualitativelyby examining the indicator colour: a light, bright colour indicates low electrolytelevel: top up with distilled water;a dark colour without a green area in thecentre indicates that the electrolyte level is correct but chargeis low: recharge the battery; a dark colour with a green area in themiddle indicates that both electrolyte level and charge status arecorrect: no action is necessary. For further details, see DESCRIPTION ANDOPERATION - 5580.768Proceed as follows.Check the battery voltage without loadusing the test device recommended by the Service outlets (e.g. 'MICRO360'). Depending on the voltage values measured, which define the state of charge of the battery, proceed as follows:If the voltage without load is less than12.10 V, replace the battery (see op.). 5530B10).If the voltage without load is over 12.10V but less than 12.50 V, recharge the battery (see op. 5530B14).If the voltage without load is over 12.50V, the battery is efficient. If necessary, top up the electrolyte asfollows.Carefully remove the cap strip.Top up with distilled and deionized water, taking care not to allow electrolyte to splash out.768
