DescriptionThe Sport Throttle Response function is controlled by the engine management unit and makes the car easy to handle under all conditions. The driver can choose a sports mode setting in addition to the standard mode setting. The engine then responds to accelerator controls in the same way as an out-and-out sports model. The system enables the driver to drive the car in a lively, sporty fashion while still being able to drive it in a relaxed manner, with a gentler and smoother engne response, at other times.Sports mode is activated by pressing (even when the car is in motion) a switch on the central console. To prevent accidental activation of sports mode due to involuntary switch operation, the accelerator pedal must be fully released before activation. When sports mode is enabled, a warning light on the switch comes on.To reset standard mode, press the button again and release the accelerator fully. The warning light on the switch goes off and standard mode is activated. The system can switch automatically from standard to sports mode by pressing the accelerator pedal. This function is useful in all situations - such as overtaking or emergency manoeuvres - when maximum acceleration is required. When the period of maximum power demand is over, the system automatically resets itself to standard mode.
Functional description The sport throttle response function allows the driver to select one of two driving styles: a sporty style and a more comfortable style, by choosing between two different modes mapped inside engine management control unit M10. Switching is carried out using a button in the control cluster on tunnel H36 , which is connected to pin 28 of connector A of M10 . This function can be enabled only with the accelerator pedal released. When the SPORT function is on, the control unit turns on the led next to the button (from pin 34 of connector A). This is ignition-operated (INT/A) from a line protected by fuse F5 in junction unit B1 .
