DescriptionA device allows the headlamp beam to be adjusted, directly from the driver's seat, in accordance with the load. The headlamps are thus always aligned quickly and correctly. The adjustment device consists of a motor mounted on each of the two headlamps which tilts them as appropriate, lowering the light beam if the car is heavily laden, and raising it if the load decreases.A specific knob on the dashboard selects the four positions indicated:position 0 - one or two persons on the front seats, full fuel tank, car fully equipped and in running order;position 1 - five persons;position 2 - five persons with luggage compartment full (about 50 kg);position 3 - driver and 300 kg load, all stowed in boot. The adjustment knob is located on the dashboard, together with the exterior lights control and the instrument brightness control; The control switches have symbols which are lit up when the side lights are on.The device is enabled only when the dipped beam headlamps are on.The headlamp adjustment circuit is protected by the same fuses as the dipped beam headlamps circuit, located in the junction unit.
Functional description The headlamp alignment device in H15 is supplied at pin 2 by a line coming from the circuit for the dipped beam headlamps ( 3309117SeeE2011DIPPED HEADLAMPS ); this line provides voltage to the regulator only when the dipped beams are on. The dipped beam switch on the exterior lights control H6 receives ignition-operated supply (INT/A) to pin 7, through fuse F13 of junction unit B1. When the lights are switched on, the command is sent via the stalk unit H5 to pin 6 of connector B of M45 . In response to this signal, the Check device M45 controls the supply to the dipped beams - from pin 5 of connector D. this signal excites relay R1 , located in relay unit B3 that supplies power to dipped beams and control H15 via fuse line F7 of B3 . Pin 3 of device H15 is earthed, while pin 1 sends an adjustment signal to the motors located in light clusters F10 (left) and F11 (right). A resistance divider alters output voltage to according to which of the four positions has been selected. Motors N30 and N31 contain a transducer that establishes actual motor travel on the basis of the voltage of an adjustment signal received by pin 2 from device H15 . The motors are supplied through pin 3 from the line (part of the dipped beam circuit) that supplies device H15 , while pins 1 are earthed.
