DescriptionThe car is equipped with extra bright tail-lights(rear fog lamps) located in the centre (on the boot) of the tail-lightunit for use in cases of poor visibility. The rear foglamps are activated by a buttonon the central console between the seats; A special symbol is litup when the side lights are on.A warning light in the panel (rev countermodule) signals that the rear fog lamps have been switched on.The rear foglamps are enabled when the dippedbeams are on, or when the fog lamps are on.This control logic is managed by the checkdevice located inside the rev counter module. The correct operation of the rear fog lampsis controlled by the same check device as for the exterior lights, located inside the rev counter module. The following faults may occur:blown bulbbulb s.c. to earth or positiveincorrect bulb (5W bulb instead of 21W)A special failure warning light, also inthe rev counter module, comes on for all other faults in the variouscircuits. This warning light comes on for about 4 seconds when theignition key is turned to MAR, to indicate it is working properly, then it goes off.The rear fog lamps circuit is protectedby two fuses for the lights monitored by the check system, one forthe lights on the right hand side, the other for those on the left.
Functional description The switch H35 sends the signal foractivating the rear fog lamps to the check device inside the revcounter E15 (pin 1 of connector B ). The supply for the check device inside E15 arrivesdirectly from the battery (maxifuse J/B2 of B99 ) atpins 10 and 16 of connector A, through fuses F2 and F3 ofthe junction unit B1 ; the former protects the circuits forthe lights on the left hand side, the latter those on the right.the former protects the circuits for the lights on the left handside, the latter those on the right. The check device only controls (pin 4 andpin 17 of connector A) the supply of the rear fog lamps in the centrerear light clusters on the left F35 and the right F36 ifone of the two go ahead signals arrives from the dipped beam headlampsor the front ghts. The first signal arrives from the dippedbeam headlamps circuit at pin 8 of connector A ( 3233782SeeE2011DIPPED HEADLAMPS ). The second signal is supplied by the circuitinside the module E15 : it is the same signal which lightsup the "front fog lights on" warning light. At the same time as the lights are switchedon, the "rear fog lamps on" warning light - inside E15 -is also switched on with pin 14 of connector A providing the earth. In the case of failures in the circuit, the "lights failure" warning light - inside E15 -comes on, with the supply controlled by the ignition (IINT), pin15 of connector A, of the line protected by fuse F4 of theadditional fuse box B98 . The switch H35 is lit up when theside lights are switched on by means of the line coming from theswitch for the steering column switch unit H5 .

Follow these precautions.769On batteries with an opticam hydrometer, electrolyte level and battery charge status can be monitored qualitativelyby examining the indicator colour:a light, bright colour indicates low electrolytelevel: top up with distilled water;a dark colour without a green area in thecentre indicates that the electrolyte level is correct but chargeis low: recharge the battery;a dark colour with a green area in themiddle indicates that both electrolyte level and charge status arecorrect: no action is necessary. For more details 3238420See subassembly5530 CURRENT GENERATOR . 768Proceed as follows.Check the battery voltage without loadusing the test device recommended by the Service outlets (e.g. 'MICRO360').Depending on the voltage values measured, which define the state of charge of the battery, proceed as follows: If the voltage without load is less than12.10 V, replace the battery ( 32384295530B10battery - r+r ). If the voltage without load is over 12.10V but less than 12.50 V, recharge the battery ( 32384305530B14battery - recharge ). If the voltage without load is over 12.50V, the battery is efficient. If necessary, top up the electrolyte asfollows.Carefully remove the cap strip.Top up with distilled and deionized water, taking care not to allow electrolyte to splash out.768
