DescriptionThe left and right direction indicators are operated by raising or lowering the left lever on the stalk unit. the function is activated with the ignition key in the ON position. The hazard warning lights (right and left direction indicators operated simultaneously) are turned on by the pressing a button in the centre of the dashboard and both the direction indicators come on at the same time. An LED in the back of the button also comes on flashing in synchronization with the outside lights; the function is always activated. The switching on of the direction indicators / hazard warning lights is managed by the Body Computer which also controls the flashing frequency which is sent to the other connectors via the CAN serial network. In this way, the two direction indicator warning lights in the instrument panel are also lit up; in addition, as well as the flashing of the warning lights, the system also produces a low frequency auditory signal., via a relay in the Body Computer. The correct operation of the lights is controlled by the direction indicators 'check' function: the following is controlled for each of the two circuits (right branch and left side):open circuit or 21 W bulb missing (right front, right rear, left front, left rear)short circuit to earth (bulb short circuit or wiring short circuit to earth)short circuit to Vbatt (wiring short circuit to Vbatt)5W bulb replaced with a 21 W bulbIf one of the situations described above is detected, the Body Computer notifies the CAN of the failure state: a special 'lights failure' warning light comes on in the instrument panel and, at the same time, the information is shown on the display. There is also a signal that one of the front or rear 21 W bulbs is missing with an increase in the nominal flashing frequency of the warning lights in the instrument panel and the auditory feedback (buzzer). The direction indicators come on to notify the user that the command to close/open the doors has been received from the remote control 3023301SeeE3040CENTRAL LOCKING3023578SeeE7015ALARM .
Functional description The direction indicators activation signals are sent to pin 7 of connector D and 30 of connector B for the Body Computer M1 from the steering column switch unit H5 . The 'ignition key in ON' signal (INT) for the switch H1 reaches the underdashboard control unit B2 at pin 11 of connector H and from there moves on to the Body Computer M1 (pin 9 of connector F). The hazard warning lights activation signal, on the other hand, reaches pin 34 of connector B of M1 from the control button in the centre panel H12 . The Body Computer M1 controls the supply for the side lights at the side F20 (left) and F21 (rght) from pins 2 and 22 of connector A, for the front side lights F18 (left) F19 (right) from pins 38 and 39 of connector A and for the rear side lights F30 (left) F31 (right) from pins 12 and 3 of connector E. The Body Computer M1 is connected, via the CAN line, to the instrument panel E50, to manage the 'direction indicators' warning light, the buzzer and, if there are failures in the circuit, the 'lights failure' warning light. The signal is sent, from pin 29 of connector B of M1, to light up the LED in the control button H12 .

Follow these precautions.769On batteries with an opticam hydrometer, electrolyte level and battery charge status can be monitored qualitativelyby examining the indicator colour: a light, bright colour indicates low electrolytelevel: top up with distilled water;a dark colour without a green area in thecentre indicates that the electrolyte level is correct but chargeis low: recharge the battery; a dark colour with a green area in themiddle indicates that both electrolyte level and charge status arecorrect: no action is necessary. For further details, see DESCRIPTION ANDOPERATION - 5580.768Proceed as follows.Check the battery voltage without loadusing the test device recommended by the Service outlets (e.g. 'MICRO360'). Depending on the voltage values measured, which define the state of charge of the battery, proceed as follows:If the voltage without load is less than12.10 V, replace the battery (see op.). 5530B10).If the voltage without load is over 12.10V but less than 12.50 V, recharge the battery (see op. 5530B14).If the voltage without load is over 12.50V, the battery is efficient. If necessary, top up the electrolyte asfollows.Carefully remove the cap strip.Top up with distilled and deionized water, taking care not to allow electrolyte to splash out.768
