R10Multiple tester connection-
DescriptionThe car is equipped with numerous self-diagnostic electroniccontrol units. When a tester (Examiner or other instrument)is connected to the control units, self-diagnostic data can be read(parameters, errors) or active testing can be carried out. This car is not fitted with a specific tester connection for each control unit. Instead, a single standard16-way tester connection is located on the left hand side of thefacia, above the junction unit. The diagnostic equipment (Examiner or otherinstruments) is connected to it using a special adaptor called "MPX97". This adaptor makes it possible to select the system towhich you wish to connect.
Functional description The diagnostic socket R10 is supplied directly by thebattery at pin 16 by the line protected by fuse F10 of thejunction unit B1 . Pins 4 and 5 are earthed. Pin 1 is connected to the ABS control unit M50 (pin11) ( 3234769SeeE7020ABS ). Pin 3 is connected to the Air Bag controlunit M60 (pin 9) ( 3234801SeeE7030AIRBAG ). Pin 9 is connected to the climate controlunit M70 (pin 8 of connector B) ( 3234632SeeE6020AIR CONDITIONING ). Pin 11 is connected to alarm control unit M30 (pin6 of connector A) and remote control receiver M35 (pin 2)(see E7015 - ALARM). Pin 8 is connected to the Code control unit M20 (pin5) ( 3234721SeeE7010CODE ). Pin 7 is connected to engine managementcontrol unit M10 via a dedicated line. ( 3234515SeeE5030PETROL ENGINE ELECTRONICMANAGEMENT ) ( 3234559SeeE5050DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONICMANAGEMENT )

Follow these precautions.769On batteries with an opticam hydrometer, electrolyte level and battery charge status can be monitored qualitativelyby examining the indicator colour:a light, bright colour indicates low electrolytelevel: top up with distilled water;a dark colour without a green area in thecentre indicates that the electrolyte level is correct but chargeis low: recharge the battery;a dark colour with a green area in themiddle indicates that both electrolyte level and charge status arecorrect: no action is necessary. For more details 3238420See subassembly5530 CURRENT GENERATOR . 768Proceed as follows.Check the battery voltage without loadusing the test device recommended by the Service outlets (e.g. 'MICRO360').Depending on the voltage values measured, which define the state of charge of the battery, proceed as follows: If the voltage without load is less than12.10 V, replace the battery ( 32384295530B10battery - r+r ). If the voltage without load is over 12.10V but less than 12.50 V, recharge the battery ( 32384305530B14battery - recharge ). If the voltage without load is over 12.50V, the battery is efficient. If necessary, top up the electrolyte asfollows.Carefully remove the cap strip.Top up with distilled and deionized water, taking care not to allow electrolyte to splash out.768
